Sun, 22nd June, 2025 Bush camp on pending lease near Nullagine to Roy Hill Rest Area, north of Newman, WA

13 degrees and still windy.

Rang Mal to check on camping details for Lake Perkolilli and caught up on his news too.

Into Nullagine for enough diesel to get us to Newman as it is $2.97 here and $2.21 in Newman. The corellas have taken over and are a rusty colour from all the dust. The new pool area is coming along. Once the bitumen is completed to here they might see a few more tourists - well the publican is hoping so I imagine. Topped up the water tanks too so we can do our washing before we get to Newman.

Onto the road south and into the roadworks.

Onto the bitumen as we pass the mine camp and then the processing plant and conveyor belts. Over the Fortesque River then into the rest area at the Roy Hill turn off. Big open area with tracks going off into the bush. We found a spot with good trees for our clothes line and set up.

After lunch I did the washing and Steve did his maintenance checks on the truck. The wind is cool but the sunshine is warm so the washing is drying quickly.

Got to 27 degrees max at 3pm.

Packed everything away. Another traveller pulled in and parked further over.

Played cards with our drinks as the sun dropped and so did the temperature.

Put the heater on after dinner as the chill was creeping in as we watched a movie.
