‘April Showers’ continued. Rained through the night so we had to close up with wet vinyl. Bit wet outside.
Cyclone Herman is now a Cat 4 off the WA coast but they are predicting it to turn away so hopefully there won’t be any more rain. Newman had rain in one night that was their usual 2 months total so the Fortescue River was flowing very well. Great photos on Facebook.
We were going to check out a Geocache across the road but too wet for that. Continued east. Stopped for a cuppa at Coolgardie then continued on to Kalgoorlie. The rest area is now 72 hour and has water and dump point and they have just put in an extra area - called ‘overflow’ and it was open so we went there as the rest of the area had big muddy red puddles.
Just as we were about to drive onto the ramps the chap in front of us asked if he could use our winch to get his little car off the trailer. The wheels weren’t gripping on the metal and he couldn’t get it out. Only took Steve a few minutes and he was all good. He has now put in some grips so he won’t get stuck again.
Set up camp and I did my computer stuff while Steve watched the Formula 1 racing in Melbourne. We have missed the Supercars sprint races but get the updates on our phone.
1pm the rain has stopped and the clouds look like they are thinning. Forecast is for cloudy days ahead but no more rain.
Gavin called in. Mia’s year 12 formal is tonight so we will catch up with him and Tonia tomorrow afternoon.
The sun is peeking through the clouds so we went for a walk around the park. Good information plaques about Vietnam and the Kokoda Trail but I didn’t take my camera so no photos.
Chatted with two chaps from Bundaberg with a big 5th wheeler he is trying to sell - not his truck though as he is building another 5th wheeler at home. Would be a good buy if you wanted it, only $110,000. He used to race sidecars, pointing to the fact he lost 4 toes on his right foot from that. The other chap raced solos so they are following race meetings.
We played cards while we had our drinks. All quiet here except for a few hoons zooming along the main road.
