27th to 31st Aug, 2023 Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld

Sun, 27th

Quiet morning. Got some groceries then did some baking. Steve worked on the engine again and Dan finished off what he had to make for his Dad. Very handy having a talented sheet-metal fabricator in the family and we do appreciate all the time he has given to get this job done.

Downloaded more photos Steve has taken on his phone.

Spent some more money upgrading the tyre size to bring the revs down on the new engine.

Daniel started making up the intercooler pipework - hot and cool sides.

Still some major wiring to sort to connect up the automatic’s computer to the engine’s computer which is proving to be a headache!! Fozzie getting his planking exercise as well as he solders up some wires.

We had to relocate the bonnet scope 3 inches further forward to allow for the turbo intake pipe.

Steve’s been finishing off a few bits by putting on the grill and bonnet back on. Almost looks ready to roll until you look inside at the wiring!

Mon, 28th

Another shower of rain this morning.

Got our approval for volunteering and a campsite for this year’s Bathurst 1000 which is celebrating its 60th year - just like me. We were there for the 50th hence we wanted to go this year too.

Had a visitor - huge goanna. Jon calls him ‘Gary’. Wandered down through the garden bed, stopped for a photo then went around the side of the shed. Glad I keep my door closed on the camper.

Tues, 29th

Clearer day. Had a cuppa with the girls at Tuckshop then the email came through about the automatic computer then so had to go around to Steve with it. He was at Fozzie’s so joined them for a cuppa and chatted with Michelle.

Home for lunch then I picked up Judy and we had a lovely afternoon chatting over a cuppa and we put a few dollars in the pokies at Brothers, reminiscing about Mum and Erica and all our pokie outings.

Sad news about the house Dan & Fran were looking at. The sellers received a higher offer so they missed out. Hopefully the right place will come up for them soon.

Wed, 30th

Lovely clear morning, looks like we might be going have some nice weather for a bit.

Tried another line dancing lesson with Wendy as I didn’t get to do any last week. We are getting better!

Dropped Annalise to work then picked up Jon from the airport - home for 2 weeks.

Thurs, 31st

Cool clear morning.

Valerie’s birthday.

Line dancing again - at least I am getting some exercise while having fun.

Lunch with the line dancing ladies. We reminisced about our trip to Melbourne in 2014 for the Melbourne Cup.

More wonderful grandparent news for us. Jon and Annalise are expecting too. They went for her 12 week scan today and all is good. Due 10th March. Fran is due on the 20th so it will be a busy month.

Steve drove the truck around to Fozzie's to finish off the wiring then get the air conditioner regassed etc. Nearly there.

Dinner at Roos with them and Lynda to celebrate baby announcement.
