Thurs, 18th May, 2017 Mum & Dad’s, Cairns, Qld (Dan’s birthday)

My baby is 28, wow how the years have flown. Very proud of our boys in what they have achieved.

Three beautiful kingfishers sat on the line outside the kitchen for a while but disappeared as soon as I went for the camera!!

Off to Doc for another cortisone injection – hoping this will free it right up.

Back home to pick up Mum and Val for our day out. No nice wins before lunch. Sandra and the line dancing ladies arrived too so we had a nice chat – they are such a great bunch. After lunch we had a couple of wins playing 1 line on 5 cent machines and won $5 on one and $2.50 on another. Then we got on our favourite and had a couple of good wins, $5 and $8 but only after we had lost first so ended up $10 down on the pokies for the day – not bad for a day out with three people.

Still raining when we drove home. I headed back out to pick up some ink for Dad’s printer, where I ran into Steve & Joanne Savvakis – ex TBHS Principal. They are both looking great in their retirement. Picked up the cheesecake. Jon had done some work for Ian at his chinese takeway and said to drop in for some dinner so I did and we had lovely chinese dishes with the butter chicken I cooked for dinner for Dan’s birthday. Brian joined us which was lovely. I gave him 'Bob' which I got from the Port Douglas Markets, carved out of a coconut.

Steve rang to chat while we had dinner – loudspeaker on the phone is a great idea. After yummy cheesecake the TV went on as the Cowboys were playing. Dan and I chatted as we don’t follow the footy!! Dan is negotiating a new car with the salesman which will be great as he old Surf has served him well but he needs a better car. He will sell his Toyota Soarers as well then he will be set.
