Fri, 10th Nov, 2017 Phillip & Michelle’s, near Cadoux, WA

7.30am 25 degrees, clear sky & light breeze.

Quiet morning. Rang Sandy – getting ready to fly to Geelong for her daughter’s wedding.

We drove down to see how the ewe shearing was going. The fleece is a lot thicker filling up the sacks quickly so there was a big pile on the ground while the bag was getting packed.

They will be doing the rams next which needed a needle to calm them down before shearing. We headed back to where the harvesting was still underway. I went for a drive with Phillip to drop off a load to the Bin at Cadoux. We drove in and the samplers took samples from the two loads we had and it passed for moisture etc so we continued on to the weigh bridge then around to the drop area. A load of barley had just been dropped off and was being taken by the conveyor belt to the barley bulkhead.

We parked over the mesh and dropped the wheat onto it then the machine picked it up and it was taken on the conveyor to the pile of wheat – all of Phillip’s as he is the only one doing wheat at the moment.

Phillip said that is a crew of men who drag the tarps up over the piles of grain. Tough job!

We went with Phillip and Michelle down to Dowerin for dinner at the Bowls Club with Michelle’s brother Les, his wife and son. Very popular spot and dinner was very nice.
