Tues, 30th Apr, 2019 Bush camp at Wild Cat Mine, north-east of Leonora, WA

The wind last night blew all the clouds away. 7am 12 degrees, clear sky and breezy.

By 8am the clouds were coming back over and the wind was cold and gusy.

Steve and I tried detecting around the old shafts area, me picking up the rubbish with the magnet and Steve detecting but there was just too much rubbish to even get in a good swing with the detector. We gave up and wandered down the slope to where Ray and Carol were working. Carol’s turn to get a few today.

We walked back to the van for a cuppa then I headed back to them with my detector. Steve drove off trying to find another spot. No joy for either of us.

Lunch time, 20 degrees, cool wind and the sky is clear again.

Tried another spot near to where we first found some bits but only found rubbish. After a cuppa joined Ray and Carol again. They headed back and said for us to go over the area again. We both found a bit each.

Drinks very close to the fire as the wind was cold. We introduced Ray and Carol to the ‘lovelies warmers’ and they were impressed how wonderful it felt having the heat from the coals work its way up your back.

6.30pm 17 degrees in the van when we headed in for dinner.

Still working our way through the TV series and a movie each night.

NO PHOTOS TODAY.
