Wed, 8th June, 2022 Saddle Creek Rest Area, 117km west of Timber Creek, NT (Dad 10 months)

Dad would love to be reading about our travels but I know he is watching from above so all is good.

Strong gusts of wind are rolling over us like waves. This might be the cool change that is predicted. 7am 24 degrees.

Got out the washing machine and did our domestics. The sun and wind will dry it all quickly.

The rubbish chaps stopped near us so I asked if they saw the young man walking along the road. They didn’t today but one of them saw him yesterday. Hope he got a lift ok. The other chap said he picked up a lady once who was walking to Kununarra after getting off the bus at Timber Creek. She was walking down the road with her suitcase on wheels and no water etc in 36 degree heat. Crazy. We chatted about the fruit and veg left at the rest areas as people discard stuff before crossing into WA. He said his pigs do well out of what is left behind. A guy last night was trying to give away pumpkin - I should have taken it and cooked it up to use for scones and my yummy cake.

Chatted with others who stopped for a cuppa or lunch during the day. Some come over to chat to Steve about the truck and camper.

The gusty windy blew all day but it still got to 33 degrees in the camper. Washing all dry and packed away again.

More campers pulled in to stop for the night so we moved our chairs to the shade shelter and chatted the afternoon away with Don and Nola from Mt Sheridan - fancy that. Another couple (from Fremantle) with their son pulled in and the chap joined us too. Interesting listening to his ideas to work on the road as they have loved travelling. Another chap was hoping someone had satellite TV to get the results of the State of Origin tonight.

Cooler evening.
