Wed, 27th July, 2022 Bush camp at Quondong Beach, Dampier Peninsula, WA

Wendy and Matthew’s birthdays today - sent off messages wishing them a lovely day.

Another beautiful clear blue sky morning but the wind is still blowing from the east. The sea looks calm though from up here.

The other family left so we moved the camper into their spot.

Had a cuppa with Gary and Cheryl in our secluded spot then went for a walk down to the beach. Looking back up to the camp area.

Put my feet in the Indian Ocean for the first time this trip.

Only a few little shells about. Spotted a whale - saw a big white thing go up into the sky then disappear. Looking back to our camp then further along to other campers.

Over all the rocks.

Climbed back up again and checked out other camper’s sites with the little bays between the rocky points.

Headed back along the track and checked out the info board we saw when we drove in.

Back to our camp - forgot to take a new campsite photo before.

Our wonderful sitting area in the shade with a fabulous view.

The wind has settled by lunch time. The tide is heading out so we walked south back along the beach looking for the ‘dinosaur’ footprints. The purple mulla mulla flowers look great against the red pindan cliff.

Should have worn my togs though its a long walk down for a dip.

Gary had shown me the one he found so we went looking for it. Somewhere in all those rocks! Maybe this is the shape of a bone! With a good imagination you can see all kinds of things. Found the one Gary showed us. How comes there aren’t heaps as they can’t have just hopped on one foot! Some leaves!

The tide is further out now as we are nearing a new moon on Friday.

Spotted more whale water spouts in the distance.

Drinks around the fire with the best view again. A hermit crab wandered through - we will have to look where we step! Graham from the van on the cliff edge joined us. He makes whips as a hobby - very interesting hearing about it all.

Jon rang - phone reception comes and goes but we had a great chat. He sent a photo of his beautiful face after a day at work doing RC drilling. He says they were proper face masks but how come his face is covered!!

I sent him a sunset photo then sent it on to a Wendy for her birthday.

Another beautiful evening till the wind got too cool.
