13-15 Apr, 2024 Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld

Sat, 13th

Steve finished his jobs - now to pack everything back into the truck so we can head off on Friday. I worked on Sarah’s wedding cross stitch.

Kaylene & Rick picked us up and we went out to visit Dan, Fran and Sophia. Lots of cuddles when Sophia woke up. She is so adorable.

Jon & Annalise’s neighbour had us all over with a couple of other neighbours for a BBQ to celebrate Beau’s arrival. We had a wonderful night - they have fabulous neighbours.

The rain is back again.

Sun, 14th

I continued with Sarah’s cross stitch - hoping to finish it before we leave so I can leave it with Wendy till their wedding in July.

We decided we wanted to be more patriotic so ordered some Aussie stickers. Steve put them on today. They look great.

I had a lovely afternoon cuddles with Beau as he didn’t want to lay down to sleep but was happy to snooze in my arms. So cuddly.

Joined Kaylene, Rick, Wendy, David, Andrea and Alan for dinner at the Bungalow Hotel. Unfortunately Steve’s dinner was overlooked but the staff were very apologetic and offered him another drink but he said he was ok so they brought him out a yummy dessert instead. Good service. All the meals were delicious and we had a wonderful time chatting as it will be another year till we catch up again.

Rain again when we got home.

Mon, 15th

More rain through the night.

I babysat Sophia so Fran could go to another doctor’s appointment.

Steve and I had a lovely afternoon chatting over a cuppa with Clive and Rebecca. Heading off soon to NT too but will be back before we get up there.

Rain started as we headed home. It got heavier and was pouring when we pulled up at home.

Got our drinks and what I was cooking for dinner and joined Jon & Annalise in the house as the rain fell outside. Beau went to sleep in the carry pouch so Annalise got to enjoy eating dinner then we played a game of Skipbo.

Beau woke for a feed then we had one more game of Skipbo and dessert then left them to get him settled for bed.

Rain pouring heavily. BOM had said 0-15mm but by 9pm the airport had received 30mm so I figure we have had a lot more here as it always rains more against the hill.

Saw a flash then thunder rumbled and then the rain got heavier and more lightning and thunder. The rain is so heavy and loud it was hard to hear the TV. 10.30pm BOM had recorded 97mm. The creek is roaring again.
