9-12 Apr, 2024 Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld

Tues, 9th

Had a good night with the cats wandering in to check out who was in bed at Dan & Fran’s place. I woke very happy too - no dizzy head at last. My physio worked her magic so I am very happy.

Val & Hank arrived to take Fran to the dentist. I fed Sophia and she drank it all straight down then went back to sleep. Such a good girl.

I fed her another bottle 3 hours later and got a few photos of her.

Fran and her parents came back so I headed home for a late lunch. So happy to be feeling better again. Beau was asleep - looking forward to a cuddle this afternoon.

Got some groceries and printed some photos out for Terry to take home.

Beau was awake so I had a lovely time nursing him while Annalise and Lynda got dinner prepared.

Still hot days but no rain. Steve changed the actuators from 6 to 4 so hopefully we won’t have any problems with them now.

11.30pm a heavy shower of rain fell.

Wed, 10th

Steve continued with his jobs. I got the washing done.

We joined Terry for a cuppa at Brian’s place. He is enjoying relaxing there with ‘Percival’, Stephanie’s white cat.

After lunch I went into Officeworks and printed out photos for Terry of our Geck Family. I also had three put onto block frames to give to him, Dan & Jon. I will laminate our photos to put on our fridge door.

Around to Wendy & David’s to chat about their trip to Tassie in January. They are planning 2 and half months which will give them plenty of time to explore. Sorted out the colours for Sarah’s wedding cross stitch so will get started on that.

Picked up Terry then Steve and we drove out to Dan & Fran’s place to chat and look at our gorgeous girl. She was dressed in such a pretty purple outfit today - forgot to take a photo as I was too busy cuddling her as she was awake.

Dropped Terry off - Stephanie was home so had a quick chat with her.

Home for dinner and a quiet night.

Thurs, 11th

Lovely sunny morning. Cuppa with Tuckshop girls. Back to work for them on Monday.

Steve finished the actuators with new protective shrouds to protect them from branches etc.

In the afternoon chatted with Rebecca and Clive then I picked up Terry for drinks on the patio with Jon, Annalise & Beau. He heads back to Bundy tomorrow but not on the train. They are doing rail maintenance so he has to go back by a coach. I hope it works out ok and he doesn’t have a huge person beside him again as he did on the train coming up.

Fri, 12th

Bright sunny day.

Started Sarah’s cross stitch for her wedding. Need to get that done quickly so I can leave it with Wendy for her wedding in July.

Had a wonderful visit with Margit and Jodie had sent her a photo of her baby bump so I had a sneek peek of the next Geck grandchild to arrive in August. Margit had dug out the matchbox cars and GI toys that I had given her for Sam all those years ago. Will give them back to the boys for their children.

Out to Suzanne’s at Yorkeys Knob. Dark clouds over the ocean. Drizzly rain started as we got to Suzanne’s. We went to a Fish & Chip shop that has a good reputation and that was proved with how many people were lined up to order. Eventually we got ours and went back to Suzanne’s and we gave our dinner a 9 out of 10 - well worth the wait. Great night catching up on all the news of her and the kids. Still drizzly rain as we headed home but obviously it had rained quiet heavily by the water on the road.

When we got home the rain started again.
