Beautiful
morning, just perfect temperature.
Did
the washing, put dinner in the slow cooker and pottered about. Got ready to
join the girls for Melbourne Cup Lunch. Luckily I had brought a couple of long
dresses. Wendy lent me a fascinator and I had a bit of makeup so managed to
look the part – could have had other shoes but oh well.
Dave
and Wendy picked me up then we picked up Sandra and headed into the Reef
Casino.
Met up with the other ladies we went to Melbourne with two years ago to
go to the actual Melbourne Cup and a few others from the line dancing group.
Put our bets on – I was going for the Irish horse, Wicklow Brave.
Beautiful
food, lots to drink!! And great friends so we had a ball.
There
was an auction for the Hospital Foundation. We tried for No. 13 Heartbreak City
and got it at $110 which between the 9 of us wasn’t too much. The race started
and my Wicklow Brave was doing well then we spotted our yellow jerseyed
Heartbreak City vying for first place. It was very exciting and we ended up
second and won $632 so we were all very happy.
After
it finished Sandra, Wendy and I walked across to Mondos and ordered a Toberone
cocktail to finish off a great day. Forgot to take a photo of that!!
Home
to a cooked dinner and lots of water!! Rang Steve to tell him about our win, he
has had a few little wins too. Charles hasn’t arrived up yet as his little dog
Nina passed away last night – so sad as he just loves his dogs. Jon and his
mates are going up this weekend which will be great. Into bed early!!
