Mon, 16th Jan, 2017 Conto Campground, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park to Karri Gully, east of Nannup, WA (29 months on road)

Cloudy again. Packed up and headed across to Karridale for some fuel.

Onto the Brockman Highway heading east. Stopped at Alexandra Bridge Campground for a look and a cuppa by the Blackwood River. Lovely spot, $10 each per night.

Some people arrived and the kids got straight into swinging from the rope.

Steve spotted a huge skink.

They said the water was warm so I tried it out. Not freezing but definitely not warm!!

Continued along the highway occasionally seeing the river again as we headed for Nannup. It is a timber town. Up the Darling Scarp again and through lots of pine plantations to our camp for a couple of nights at Karri Gully. Not a huge spot and we wouldn’t leave the van here to go off sightseeing but it is fine to have some down time so I can catch up on my blog and Steve can do any maintenance he needs. Obviously the road works department have decided it is a good place to leave there culverts and dirt.

There is a picnic table and toilet on the level above and of course there are lots of Karri trees.

The Bibbulmun Track runs nearby and this is a stop off spot for the hikers. I wonder how many people actually do the 950km hike.

Worked on my blog till smoko then we played three games of Rummikub – I was the victor.

Followed the 20 minute walk through the bush, not well used and found the Bibbulmun Track then came back to camp.

Steve put the generator on as it is very shady here and I need to charge the laptop again and the van batteries could do with a full charge. I kept going with my blog while Steve watched another Top Gear episode – racing cars in the snow and sending a mini down a ski jump. Amazingly it landed wheels down.

Very quiet here except for the occasional car zooming past. Phone reception goes in and out too.

Quite cool so haven’t even opened any windows since we got here.
