1st - 6th March, 2022 Mum & Dad’s, Cairns, Qld (Jon & Annalise’s engagement party)

1st - Another hot humid day. We veged out watching YouTube with the air conditioning going!!

2nd - The first Rose of Sharon bloomed today - one month to my birthday.

3rd - More hot days, 36 degrees with sunny days then a storm building in the afternoon which gives relief for a moment then the humidity increases when the sun comes out again. Not that we are complaining after watching the news over the last week of all the terrible flooding in the south.

Nice cuppa with the ladies at Tuckshop, I provided my homemade Anzac cookies for morning tea this time. I met the two new ladies that have recently started.

Steve picked up chairs and tables off Louis for the engagement party - he is such a good friend. We took them up to Jon’s and were just about to unload when a storm popped over the hill and dumped rain on us for 10 mins. We watched it head north then Jon came home and we unloaded in the humidity!!

4th - Daniel finished making the mudguards for the truck so Steve got to work putting them on.

Daniel also made corner plates for the camper corners where the pop-top roof comes down. We think this is where water was getting in at Bundy and then flowing along the frame into the cupboards. As there is a storm brewing Steve will put them on in the morning so they have plenty of time to dry.

Paul called in to chat about the truck with Steve.

Helped Jon put up the fairy lights for the party.

5th - Steve finished putting on the mudguards then we went up to Jon’s to help get organised for the party tonight.

3.45pm the heavens grumbled then down came the rain. Luckily it moved over quickly and as we headed up to Jon’s at 4.30pm the sky had cleared. We dried off the chairs and tables and were all set up when people started arriving at 5pm.

Wonderful night mingling with everyone. The pizza man kept the pizzas coming and everyone had plenty to drink.

We are very happy to welcome Annalise into our family.

After short speeches (Steve made a good one) Jon and Annalise cut their cake. I hope someone got some better photos as I just quickly snapped these off on my camera.

There will be a few sore heads in the morning but everyone had a fabulous time. The beer pong competition in the carport was loud and fun. We had a great time seeing all our family and friends again to say farewell again too as we head off next Saturday.

6th - Quiet morning watching the Supercars race in Sydney that I taped yesterday.

Wendy B came over to check out the camper.

Popped in on Kaylene and Rick for a cuppa then up to Jon’s to load up the chairs and tables to return to Louis tomorrow.

Watched the Sunday race of the Supercars and had a quiet evening.
