Shower of rain through the night. Steve got up with a very stiff back. He had sneezed yesterday while bending to roll up the floor mat and knew he had hurt something. He took some panadol and I rubbed on some Zen and hopefully he won’t get worse.
Packed up before the dark clouds gave us another sprinkle. We drove out so I could give the Corolla a wash. I had cleaned the floors in the house etc so I can hand it all back to Greg.
Jon and Annalise called in to say goodbye. We handed back the house keys to Greg then chatted waiting for Dan. I rang to see where he was and I woke him up so I said farewell over the phone. Lucky I got hugs and kisses yesterday from Dan and the other day from Fran.
Greg took photos and video of us leaving.
Here we go again. Well for a year or so till we return for Jon and Annalise’s wedding in July next year.
We headed up the Kuranda Range and stopped at Kuranda for a cuppa. We wandered around the markets for a bit - very quiet. Read the info about how the markets started on land owned by the Bee House (which is still there).
Continued on to Tolga to catch up with Mum & Dad’s good friends, Gracie and Fred. Their daughter Janice lives next door so she joined us for a cuppa and yummies. We wore our masks to help protect them - just in case.
Said farewell then drove to Lake Tinaroo. Around the dam wall - the dam is quite full but now spilling over as you can see by the dry dam wall.
Onto Danbulla Road, around the lake to School Point campground. The road is gravel and a bit corrugated so we will see how much bounces around in the camper and whether any dust goes in the back door.
Found Michelle and Steve’s camp. Greg, Yudrunka and their son Brendan were there too so we parked up for the night with them.
No dust and everything was in its place except the chairs had swung around.
After everyone checked out the camper and truck we headed down to the water for a swim and ski. I had the swim - we let them have the skiing. Haven’t skied in many years and don’t plan to injure my back trying to do it again. Steve pulled a hamstring last time he had a go when the kids were younger. I went in the boat as observer which was fun - brought back many memories. We had a great younger life skiing and spending most of our weekends up here. We also spent a lot of time with the kids up here teaching them to ski too but only behind our tinny.
Back to camp for drinks then dinner and lots of chatting and laughter.
