Daniel is 33 today - where have the years gone. No phone reception here so I am glad we sent off the message yesterday.
We watched some photos of the CSR trip.
Put on our boots and headed up the track to the falls. You can see a faint blue line in the trees on the map.
We wanted to see if we could follow the other creek up to its source. There is a lot of water flowing down from this side creek.
As we went to cross George Creek we spotted a thin snake working its way along the edge but saw us and tried to get away. Then a frog jumped so that must have been what he was after.
We went across to where we could hear the water flowing. Nice big pool with the water cascading down through the roots of a tree.
Climbed over some rocks and we are between to big walls like a gorge with the creek in the valley. There is lots of high grass/weeds and it looks like the creek spreads here so would be too hard to walk up and it is too hard to walk along the edge of the cliff face so we gave up.
Back to camp for a cuppa while we watch the fish in the aquarium. Spotted a little freshwater crayfish under the rock tentatively creeping out for something to eat but scurrying back if it felt unsafe.
Lots of cars and motorhomes come in and out. Some stop for a while and do the walk, others just drive straight back out and some are most inconsiderate and don’t drive slowly bringing up the dust.
A young chap with a stretched ute stopped for a chat with Steve about our truck. He is from Victoria and is having trouble getting his changes certified etc.
A couple in a ute pulled in to park up for the night. Got chatting with them but we both forgot their names after the initial introduction - will have to work on saying them over in my head a few times!! Lovely couple from Tassie having 6 months holiday or maybe longer. Steve gave them lots of tips of good places to go etc. They are doing the Gibb too so we might see them again.
Cooler evening - no fans required tonight.
