Deanne’s electric heater worked well this morning. Sky grey and very windy.
Our neighbours had walked back with 60th Anniversary shirts yesterday that they bought from the Museum. As it is going to be wet today I don’t think we will be going into town for the Truck Parade this morning where I was going to buy some shirts as present.
We put on our big jackets and headed down the track to the Museum. The Porsches were being unloaded and Steve checked them out in the back of the trucks too as we wandered past.
Got what we needed and as we headed back to camp the rain started. What a shame for the organisers as the Merchandise Alley was still being finished off.
We didn’t need to go into town for the Truck Parade as they went through the campground, blasting their horns as they headed into town.
At 12 the trucks returned, blasting their horns again. It is still raining so we had a lazy time in the camper with the heater just ticking over keeping us comfortable. We are beside a power bo
1pm the rain came down hard with strong wind.
A new neighbour pulled in and attempted to put up his tent in between the rain. We went out to help him after another gust of wind blew it over. He gave up and just went into his car.
The heater stopped. As Steve was going to check the power box a neighbour came out saying everyone has lost power. We are not surprised when you see how some camps are set up and with all this rain and wind about. One camp up from us is just a shade shelter with a domestic fridge parked under it so that probably blew the circuit when the rain hit it.
Power came back on a while later.
4.15pm we heard thunder. We don’t think the Official’s pit lane party will be happening tonight. More heavy rain.
Half hour later the storm hit!!
Lucky we have our shower and toilet with us so we were very comfortable inside the camper reading, watching TV and playing cards for the day.
