Mon, 29th Jan, 2024 Mathers Campground, Waterhouse Conservation Area, Tas

Woke to the sound of the waves and call of the birds.

Andrea’s birthday today so sent her a message hoping she has a great day.

Warmer morning, 18 degrees but forecast said it was only going to get to 22 today. The tide is out.

I did some baking so that warmed up the camper more.

Cuppa with a view again - no whales. The sun comes in and out through the clouds and the breeze is pleasant.

Clearer day so we could see the wind farm clearly at Musselroe Bay area.

A few more people have driven in and a couple set up camp further along. One chap stopped and asked Steve how long we are staying as he usually camps here! First in best dressed!

I worked on my blog, slowly catching up. Good to have a lay day to catch up a bit.

Walked to the end of our camping area and down to the beach. The tide is further in and the sun is out with only a light breeze - perfect.

Followed the track back up the hill. Nice view from here. The water is clear and calm though it is still choppy around the point.

Walked around to Waterhouse Point Camping Area, which isn’t on the point! These sites are set back so its a long walk down to the beach. An old info board with a bit of history etc. Hope we don’t find any snakes as they don’t have any nice ones in Tassie - all dangerous.

Walked back down to the beach and then back to camp.

Steve found this abalone shell in the bush. I gave it a wash - so pretty. I had collected a few different sizes of them and they are now on the shelf at the Woodgate house - now I just take photos, no room to carry things.

Drinks with a view again - even the march flies are behaving themselves.

Late dinner - hard to get used to this late sunshine. Darkness doesn’t come till about 9.30pm.
