Warmer morning 17 degrees though the wind is back again. We headed into Launceston early to swap the rims. We went back up the Sideling Range road again. I had programmed ‘girlie’ to the tyre place in one of the main streets and she took us up and down some steep hills. The last one I nearly died at the steepness of it as we headed down the street - so glad Steve was driving - he says, it’s all good!! I seemed to have lost my nerve for steep hills etc.
The ones we wanted were a different Minespec type and I think they are meant for us as they are called Gecko rims. Unfortunately they only had the two as Steve has decided to change all 6 as they are different to the ones we had. They could get 2 from Hobart and 2 from the mainland so we will come back to get those 4 fitted later. Great service by the guys there.
Headed off to have a late cuppa at a cafe - I thought we would try the Penny Royale place near the entrance to Cataract Gorge. I was navigating using google maps and we ended up on the main road over the river and it was only the side road. I said take the next left which turned out to be a very u-turn left up a hill so Steve did it but had to have two goes to get around and then had to put it in low range as the corner had lifted the back wheel. Then it was a very narrow road - glad we didn’t have the camper on as well. Across the bridge where I managed to get a photo of up the gorge.
Finally got to the place and couldn’t get a part so gave up - so busy and the roads are tight. Drove out of town to a fuel depot and there was a Bunnings next door so went into their cafe and had a lovely lunch - savoury pastry and coffee there.
Headed onto the Bass Highway back to Westbury to pick up the part we had delivered there from RedArc for the boost gauge. All the family was there getting ready for Bec & Tom’s wedding tomorrow. Sadly the wind was blowing hard but the sky was clear. Fingers crossed the wind settles down for them tomorrow. Kerry’s nephew Gavin and his partner Donna had come across from WA too so it was great to see him again.
Back up the Sideling again and back to Bridport where the wind was blowing so hard we were glad we had the camper on the ground. Weird weather. I had picked up a few groceries in town too so made little pizzas for a change - yum, will do that again.
Joined the others to watch some You-tube videos that one of the locals, Jeff Jennings, has made of this area and other travels he has done with sea kayaking etc. Very interesting. Talked about animals and Mike said he had caught a Tassie Devil recently in a cat trap so they are certainly more about since Malcolm had caught two in the possum traps.
The wind has settled at last when we went back to the camper.
