Early
start for Malcolm & Steve as they were going back to Longford for the
Quarter Mile Sprints. It wasn’t open to spectators so I stayed back as there
was only room in the ute for Steve. I spent the morning working on all the
photos from yesterday and updating the blog.
The
wind and clouds have moved in so good day to be inside. Even a shower of rain.
Boys
came back mid afternoon. Malcolm did 13.53 seconds for the quarter mile. Steve
sat beside Malcolm to and from the ‘track’ over the Bass Highway and through
Longford which was fun and they got some ‘looks’ from people driving past them
(the car is road registered). On the way out to the ‘track’ Malcolm stopped at
the bakery to get some coffees. Not the smoothest ride so after one good bump
Steve was wearing coffee rather than drinking it!! Steve is impressed with how
quick his car is as it only weighs 500kg and has a fuel injected two litre
Toyota engine. They had stopped at the Country Club Hotel (Pub Corner in the
race) for lunch and Steve said it was full of pictures of the racing over the
years so we will have to go back there.
Malcolm
went out to roll up the lucerne into a bail so Steve went along for the ride in
the tractor – very modern though – the tractor does it all!! The hard part is
getting the weather right!! Actually there is a lot of work involved in farming
and he sometimes is rolling the bails well into the night depending on the
humidity etc to get the correct moisture content in the hay. Let alone all the
other planting, harvesting etc. Very interesting.
Leanne
& Rick rang, back from the cruise. Had a ball and they had not problems
from the weather of Cyclone Pam. They went to New Caledonia etc and there was
no problems there. Loved the ship and all the food. Heading home now. Leanne
put their names down to volunteer at Bathurst so we will see them there in
October.
I
cooked dinner for everyone tonight to say thanks for their hospitality – used
my vegies though I got some fresh cherry tomatoes from the garden.
Nice
evening chatting.
NO
