Lovely
cool night again (20 degrees!!) and beautiful blue sky. Should be a top of 28
and already by breakfast it is 24 – just loving the warmth.
Down
to the train station to wave off Erica and Terry on the new bullet train –
faster trip but vinyl seats which make for slippery sitting. Looks like they
will be looked after in the CAR E carriage!!!
They
even have a TV to watch with a very good selection of movies.
They
are both looking so well and feeling great which is wonderful. Will keep in
touch as we follow their footsteps later when we follow the Murray River like
they did earlier in the year.
Steve
dropped me home while he went off to get his groceries etc in Dan’s Surf. I
headed out to Kaylene’s for a walk along Freshwater Creek. We parked at ‘The
Rocks’ as they call it now but when I was little and we lived in Redlynch we
called it ‘Rock Pool’. This is the Freshwater Valley and hills that Mum fell in
love with all those years ago.
Parked
in the carpark then walked down to where we used to swim and jump off the big
rock. Back then we could drive right down to the swimming hole and it was big
and open with deep water around the big rock.
Walked
over the footbridge, that used to be the railway line for the sugar cane bins,
and looked up and down Freshwater Creek. Looks just a beautiful as all the
other rivers we have seen on our travels. I see my home town through different
eyes now. No brown trout here but there are little rainbow fish.
Following
the river further upstream along the side of another big housing estate.
Looking over the hills on the other side of the valley to Mt Whitfield.
I
didn’t know about Tar Trees – we were always on the lookout for Stinging Trees.
The
mango trees have lots of flowers – some say that means a big wet season or
cyclones!!
Back
home for lunch then Jon rang to say he was pulling down the lawn locker if we
could call in to help. It was only held down by one bolt so we were glad to
remove it in case a cyclone took it away. It will give Jon more backyard for
Bandit. I played with Bandit while the boys worked. He is a cute dog and very
friendly and loves tug of war and running after his rope – very energetic.
Out
to Smithfield to visit Kayleigh and her beautiful little girl, Isabelle. She is
so cute and cuddly but only had eyes for Steve – all the little girls love
him!! Mark came home just before we left. They are both doing well and enjoying
their little girl.
Stopped
at Kaylene and Rick’s to pick up the camp stretcher. Had a cuppa with them and
Dawn who is heading back to cold Melbourne on Wednesday.
Around
to Tracy and Grant’s for dinner. George has grown so tall now. Met Jacinta’s
boyfriend, Joel, a nice lad. Lovely night chatting. So great to be able to
spend time with them both. Hope to see them on the road somewhere in their van
one day.
Moon
nearly full making a lovely drive home down through Redlynch Valley.
