Mon, 3rd August, 2015 Greens Campground, Whroo Historic Reserve to Spring Creek Nature Conservation Reserve, Graytown

7am 12 degrees inside. 9am still only 8 degrees outside. Another shower of rain then the sun came out as we started to pack up. Said bye to Pete and Penny as they were heading into Shepparton. Might see them at Spring Creek later on.

Headed off after a cuppa into Rushworth to top up with water. Then back along the bitumen past the Waranga Basin – the water is a long way out.

Onto Murchison and then turned south to Nagambie. Stopped there to buy a rake for Steve’s detecting – now he has to find another gram to pay for that!!

Tracy rang for gas advice for her parents. Grant is doing so much better. So looking forward to seeing them both.

Across the Goulburn River where we crossed yesterday and managed to get a photo of the two horse statues. Penny said that is the stud where Black Caviar was born.

Pulled off the road to let this big tractor go by.

Back to Graytown and turned onto the dirt road back to Spring Creek campsite – took it nice and slow as the road was a bit spongy.

Sun out as we set out the van and had some lunch.

I worked on my blog while Steve went off to see if there was more gold here than the 3 pieces he found last time.

No gold but he found a button buried 8 inches in the ground.

Uncle John rang to see when we are going to Phillip Island as he and Joc will come down to see us which will be wonderful.

Sun shining but it is so cold. Steve got the fire going which warmed us up. Listened to the birds with their afternoon chorus – especially the cockatoos!! 6.30pm 5 degrees.

Texted Penny that Steve didn’t find any gold yet. She said forecast for tonight was -4 degrees. This will test the heater modifications in the morning.

8.30pm 3 degrees.
10 pm down to 0.8 degrees.

11pm  -0.8 degrees. Maybe we should leave the heater on all night!!
