Woke
to rain at 6.30am – all because Steve washed the truck and van!!
7am
10 degrees in van.
9.30am
7.6 degrees outside as we started to pack up. The sun is out and the sky is
clear now.
Text
to Pete & Penny saying bye for now.
Lovely
day as we head off towards Melbourne. Past green rolling countryside of
pastures and bush. We are following an old railway line as you can see where
they had built it up, and it went for miles. A lot of work for back then.
Through
Pyalong – saw a sign for a historic cemetery then another Major Mitchell
marker.
Jon
rang as we headed into Kilmore – more problems with his starter motor – they
don’t make them anymore but Fozzie is going to look at it, so hopefully they
will get something sorted.
Kilmore
has lots of old buildings too and an old gaol but we didn’t stop to investigate
but I got a few photos.
Over
the Great Dividing Range (a sign told us so) at 482 metres.
Through
Wallan then onto the Freeway. Nearing Craigleburn we got a great view of
Melbourne City.
Into
Campbellfield to where Nova Caravans are made now. Steve wanted to see if we
can get a new plate for the van with an increased tare weight etc on it. The
guys were very helpful and we can pick it up next week. They were all intrigued
to see our van as it was one of the first ones made in 2006 when the company
started.
I
consulted my maps to work out the best way to get down to Joc & John’s
without having to go through the city on the freeways etc. Decided on High
Street which was ok for a while then it turned into shops and got narrow and
busy but we made it through then turned off into Bell Street.
It
was nice and wide with three lanes but then they stopped and we crawled along.
Eventually we found the reason – a four car crash. Got this shot off the
rearvision mirror as we passed by – nasty. The first white car had no back
window too.
Once
past that it was easy going till we got onto the Freeway, under the Tunnel and
down to Frankston. The lovely blue sky is disappearing as we are heading
towards big dark clouds.
Parked
up on the driveway at Joc and John’s again. The neighbours have commented to
John how well Steve does to get it parked. Great to see them again and they are
both looking very well.
After
a cuppa I went down to the van to get the washing at 5pm. While I was replying
to a text from Penny, I jumped when the sky lit up with lightning followed by a
loud bang of thunder. Another bolt and rumble then down came the rain. 15
minutes later it was all over and the sky was clear again!! Penny said that
Dave had found 2 bits of gold at Muckleford near Maldon. Put the washing on
then joined the others for ‘bubbles’ before a lovely casserole for dinner.
Yummy strawberries for dessert too.
Got
the hang of taping programs off the TV onto my USB which is very handy. Been a
couple of good shows late at night too.
