Light
rain early this morning. 21 degrees though weather forecast is for 28 so
hopefully that means some sunshine.
Clouds
clearing from 9am so we got out the washing machine again as the sun shone. So
nice to not be in a jumper!!
Washing
all dry in the sun and with the strong breeze. After lunch we drove back out
then east and then down to Waychinicup National Park and Cheyne Beach.
Turned
off first down to Waychinicup Inlet where there is a small campground (not for
caravans). Walked down the track to where the water was flowing in and out of
the inlet. Waychinicup River flows in from up in the hills around us. Unlike
the other south coast estuaries, this inlet does not form a sand bar and
remains open throughout the year.
Continued
along the track past more little tent sites in the bush. Looking back up the
river which is lovely and clear but we didn’t see any fish swimming around the
sea grass.
Zoomed
in on the mouth channel between two big boulders.
As
we drove back up the hill I got a better shot of the mouth.
Back
to Cheyne Beach Road and down to the beach – nobody in all the houses in this
miserable weather. Drove up a sandy track to the top of a ridge for a good view
over the lagoon which flows onto the beach, the coastline heading east to Cape
Riche, Cheyne Beach and the houses – would be lovely on a bright sunny day.
Back
through the houses and past the caravan park into the National Park and onto a
sandy 4WD track to the coast. The track was lined with banksia bushes – round
ones and the candle ones.
View
to Bald Island and over the beach. Lots of 4WD tracks going in different
directions here but we decided to head back as the dark clouds are coming over
again.
Checked
out another couple of tracks on the other side where there are fishing spots
from the big rocks. Starting to spit so we headed back to camp for a cuppa.
Got
a text from Bob & Margaret checking we weren’t floating away.
Cold
again with a little shower – so glad we got all the washing dry. Continued
watching our photos from 2 years ago – still catching up, in Jan 2015 and Mum
& Dad have come to Hobart so it was great to see the photos with them in
it.
