16.4
degrees at 7.30am, clear blue sky again.
Decided
to move on to Betty’s Beach as it can close for the salmon season from mid Feb.
Packed up and said farewell to Alan & Carol and again to Terry & Glen –
though they are heading to Esperance too so might see them again.
Into
Albany for water, food and fuel.
Nice
drive north-east up and around Oyster Harbour (which flows into Middleton Bay).
Crossed Kalgan River which flows into Oyster Harbour. Turned south to Two
Peoples Bay – bit choppy on the bay as we descended down the hillside on the
dirt road to Betty’s Beach (east of Two Peoples Bay) and around North Point.
King George Whiting are caught in Two Peoples Bay so we are hoping to catch
some.
Only
a small campground with a few huts for salmon fishermen. Wandered around and
decided on parking behind one of the huts. A chap back at Cosy Corner said
that’s where they parked up. Only a short walk to the beach.
Chatted
with another chap fishing and he said there were 2 more caravans and another
bus squeezed in here yesterday!!
Put
our chairs on the mound beside the hut so we can have a lovely view for a
cuppa.
Two
beaches with big boulders dividing them.
Walked
over to the south side – more rocks around to North Point.
Some
people were fishing off the rocks.
Walked
down the track and around the big boulders to the other half of the beach.
There was a tank up on the hill with a pipe going down to the valley –
obviously they pump up water when the soak is full.
No
phone signal till I plugged into the aerial. Rang Mum and Dad for a chat.
The
rock fishermen came back with a few nice fish – not sure what they were. He
said the herring are best about 5pm so Steve got the rods ready. It was a
herring that I caught at Golden Beach the other day, and it was a good sized
one.
Steve
got one ok size herring and a little one which we used for bait. I caught the
smallest sand whiting I have ever seen!!
As
soon as the sun disappeared behind the hill the chill arrived so closed up the
van and settled in for the night. Nice listening to the waves roll onto the
beach.
