Fri, 22nd Sept, 2017 Bush camp, near Meekatharra, WA

6.30 am 20.4 degrees. Still windy – bringing clouds.

Back out detecting – wind howled but we managed to hear some targets.

By lunch the wind was too bad. A huge dust cloud engulfed the main camp. We have the van all closed up which was lucky.

Got a text from Trish and Claude (ex Bendigo) and they were setting up camp at Peace Gorge. We decided to drive back into town to see them as we have been trying to meet up for a year now. They aren’t having much luck in the gold department so we decided we would leave on Monday and join them at Lake Mason then travel across to Geraldton from there.

The Meeka Festival is on this afternoon but as we drove past the big marquee had blown down so I think it will be cancelled – far too windy. The Races are on tomorrow so hopefully the wind will have settled down for that.

Back to camp before sunset – the sky has cleared but the wind is still howling. Lara invited us over for roast dinner – yummy fresh roast straight from the local station.
