Tried to get TV reception here with our rabbit ears and couldn’t. Noticed the houses have very high aerials so we packed up and headed to the coast hoping to get better reception. Drove to South Fremantle and tried in a couple of spots but realised we needed to be higher up like we were at the rest area up the hill from Two Rocks. Steve said he had gotten reception at Pinjarra so we headed off again.
We followed the coast road past CY O’Conner Beach where he he committed suicide two days before the water flowed along the pipes to reach Kalgoorlie - so sad.
On to Coogee Beach where there was a big swimming thing on - ‘wharf to wharf’ it said on the signs. Lots of cars lining the road with ‘special’ car parking areas.
Onto the Kiwana Freeway to Pinjarra. Along the edge of Murray River - not the River Murray of course - at Ravenswood. Through the quaint township of Pinjarra then over the Murray River to the free camp area. Road one side and railway the other - might be a bit noisy!
Got TV reception so put on the kettle and settled in to watch the Supercars race. Bit more excitement then yesterday’s race. Chatted with Lou after it finished.
Walked into town across the suspension bridge. Gave Steve a hard time trying to wobble it!
Lovely seat made of 1954 Pinjarra Bridge sleepers and a mural.
Walked down through town then down to the river again and back up the path to the bridge. I probably took these photos the last time we came here and explored Pinjarra. Lots of ducks about.
Continued along the river edge, checked out some ‘private’ jetties.
Spotted some pretty lilies in the grass.
Around to the boat ramp then back to the old school house.
In front of the schoolmaster’s home is a lovely garden. As we walked out we saw the sign about the Heritage Roses. Would be fabulous when they all in bloom.
Along to the church and checked out the grave stones of the original settlers etc.
Robyn rang for an update on Erica.
Check out the water level from the flood of 1945.
Back to the camper for drinks outside watching a couple of trains pass each other. One filled with bauxite and the other with caustic soda. The ’28’ parrots are having a nice time with all there tweeting.
There are 4 other campers here and it isn’t too noisy except when the train rumbles by.
