Morning
started off bleak but by the time we got set up with the washing machine the
sun was shining and there was a good breeze though it was pretty cold. Craig
and Kathryn came over and we chatted while I washed. Steve strung another line
from the van to the truck so I could get all the sun I could.
Craig
leant Steve some Gall Brothers dvds to watch. Watched the one to the Top End
while we had lunch – man they didn’t treat their van, Kenrod off road (they
make them) well.
Left
Steve watching another dvd and to check on the washing while I went into town
with Craig & Kathryn to look at presents etc at the shops. Stopped at the
Info Centre and mentioned the dead penguin Steve saw near the abbatoir, he
thought it had been run over. The lady said they had collected it and it was
killed by a dog.
Another
cuppa with them while I folded up the washing. Still felt wet but it was just
so cold it felt wet. Steve helped Craig sort out his power issues with his
solar panel etc.
Rang
Mum and Dad to talk more about their robbery and their trip down here. Will be
so good to see them both again.
Watched
Better Homes & Gardens while we had dinner and they talked about the
Australian Garden in Cranbourne Botanical Gardens that we visited. Explained a
few things we had seen about the rocks etc – depicting the rocks being pushed
up and the concrete was lava flow etc.
Back
to Fern Glade at 8pm to try and see a platypus. The river was very still and no
sign of a platypus. Saw some ducks and a wood duck – they look so pretty. The
paddymelons were everywhere – even a little baby.
Walked
to the other side of the point where we are camped to see more penguins.
Amazing how they swim into the rocks and jump/walk up the rocks to their burrows.
A few babies were out waiting for their parents. A group of 5 waddled up
together so got some good photos – so cute. Misty rain came – so glad we have
our big Bathurst coats.
