Lovely
morning, a bit overcast and cool though. Erica rang from Woodgate. Had a lovely
chat with her and Terry and David, Amanda & Ella. Brad & Ben had opened
their presents and had disappeared upstairs.
Rang
Mum and Dad. Cried on the phone talking with Dan, Jon and Tash – can’t help it.
Just love my boys to bits. Chatted with Greg and Tracy, Matt, Tim & Katie.
Looking forward to seeing Mum and Dad on the 10th.
It
has gotten a lot colder outside so having a cuppa inside. Getting into the
Christmas spirit watching Charles Dickens Christmas and then Carols in the
Domain on the TV.
Oops
a few more tears when they sang Silent Night, loving this life but do miss my
family and friends. Judith Durum from the Seekers just singing. Loved the
Seekers when I was a kid. Great fireworks. It was lovely Christmas morning
listening to all the carols.
Got
the lamb roast on and potato bake and a sweet potato & parsnip gratin. We
have fruit cake, choc pods and a Cornetto icecream for desert.
Put
on the lace tablecloth inside as it is too cold and windy outside now. Took at
‘selfie’ of us for Facebook – hard to do with my phone. Enjoyed our lunch and a
drink.
Desert
and a cuppa then back to the domestics – had to fold all the washing and Steve
did the washing up. Went for a walk up the street to the other end of town and
some old homes etc to see.
Fernleigh
is a classified building with the National Trust. The gate looks original.
Congregational
Church and cemetery. We headed down the back to check out the cemetery and saw
a satellite dish so headed back out. Someone must be living in the church and
renovating it.
Big
old barn with hitching posts on the front. Grand old trees too.
Dysart
House was amazing. So big.
This
old photo was on an info board.
Info
board about Travelling the Land.
At
the end of the road was Memorial Avenue. All these trees were planted in memory
of fallen soldiers with a plaque for each one but sadly the plaques have all
disappeared.
More
lovely flowers. Picked some lavender as we walked past some on the footpath. So
nice – should have grabbed some more and put into the cupboards.
The
Manse.
Another
info board - Earning a living in Kempton.
Poor
old shed has seen better days.
The
General Store also owned by Ellis of Dysart House. It is certainly needing a
lot of work.
In
the backyard were heaps of old Holden utes, a couple of BMWs and a Jaguar,
waiting for restoration possibly.
Amazing
hedge, obviously just got too big so they just let it keep growing. Covers up
the sidewalk too.
Some
more lovely roses, though Steve is starting to sneeze a lot!!
Stopped
at our neighbours who were cooking a goose one of the locals gave them. I got
my maps and we went through some good campsites with them which was very handy.
Quiet
afternoon and leftovers for dinner then a good laugh watching Mrs Browns Boys.
