Cool
night. 17 degrees at 8am. Breeze cool but it is lovely in the sunshine which
there is plenty of with a clear sky.
The
carp are continuously cruising by. Should
try and catch one but there we are in a total no fish zone here till Dec 1 and we don't have a fishing licence.
These are no good to eat and they want them destroyed too.
Put
on our boots and headed off for a walk to see if we can find a NSW koala. A
beautiful kingfisher – Steve said “remember Tracy when we went to NT with her
and Greg – she would go ‘ooh ooh’ and we thought crocodile but she was going
crazy about a kingfisher!!”
Upstream
around the bend to look over at the camping area on the Victorian side.
Lovely
big old Red River Gum.
It’s
trunk was burnt out and made a great hiding spot – Steve checking it out.
I
was keeping an eye out for creepy crawlies!!
Kept
following the track to another nice beach area.
No
koalas up these trees.
Further
upstream we found another beach – I think this will be Nevin’s Beach which we
checked out last year from the Vic side. The water was a lot lower then and
there was more beach.
Back
to our camp area where there is a cross for someone who used to enjoy this area
a lot.
Nice
relaxing day. Got brave and walked into the water – nice right on the edge but
a lot colder as you got deeper – has to warm up a lot more before I get my togs
on!!
There
is a boom sound every half hour or so. Asked a local walking his dog –
obviously they don’t adhere to the National Park ‘No Dog’ sign!! Anyway he said
the sound was to scare the birds off the orchards. Sounds like Puckapunyal!!
A
few ski and cruising boats came by.
Steve
thought this guy went in a bit deep to load his boat back on.
Quiet
evening.
