Back
down memory lane watching movies of the boys in 1996 – they were so cute.
V8s
are racing in Surfers Paradise. We watched qualifying then set the recorder to
tape it as we had the 30th Anniversary World Ski Record Attempt
reunion to attend at 3pm.
Stopped
off first to check how Jon was going with his kitchen reno. Slowly getting
there.
Had
a fabulous time catching up with so many people at the reunion. Louis had been
very busy putting together a power-point presentation of all the old photos and
video footage of the 3 years the records attempts were done, 1983, 84 and 86.
Apparently some Tasmanians have beaten our records for double skies in the last
few years but Cairns still holds the record for the single skies. I bought a
copy of the photos and video footage.
Headed
up the range to Mareeba to watch Dan and his drone. They have an obstacle
course and Dan had covered them in LED lights so they could do night flying.
Very interesting and exciting.
Bit
sci-fi with the googles etc.
The
remote-controlled planes were there too with some LED lights on the wings etc.
One
of their members, Kerry, is a descendant of Lorenz Geck, Steve’s great great
grandfather. Dan had passed on my number and I sent her all the family history
info. She was there tonight so I was able to catch up with her too.
When
we got home Mum and Dad had had an unexpected visitor – a metre long snake.
Somehow he had got into the bathroom. Dad was able to get him out luckily as it
wouldn’t have been nice in the night to meet it in the hallway!!
