Up
at 4.30am (3 hours behind NSW) to watch the TV broadcast of the Bathurst 1000.
It is 10 years since Peter Brock passed away so there is a lot about him as
they have made a two part movie of his life.
Texted
Lou, Ian, Fozzie and Brian who we are normally with at Bathurst. Watched the
first couple hours from the warmth of our bed then put the heater on to bring
the van up to 24 degrees. Still a lot of wind and occasional showers of rain.
Stayed
in our PJs till the end of the race!! Fabulous race – very exciting with lots
of things happening. Will Davison ended up winning after Jamie was penalised 15
seconds because he was involved in a crash with Tander and McLaughlin.
Leanne
& Rick rang – all over and they will head off tomorrow.
Sun
out so changed our clothes and started giving the van and truck a clean and then
packed away things before we leave tonight.
Robert
& Robyn rang from Roma where Robert watched the Great Race and Robyn
relaxed in the pool. They will be over again about June so hopefully we will
see them then.
Clouded
over again in the late afternoon.
Went
online to put up some blogs and noticed it was Uncle Wally’s 89th
birthday so sent a message then rang my cousin Pete to ask him to wish him a
happy birthday and tell him about Mum.
Ordered
a taxi for 8.30pm. Stood out by the road in the freezing wind then a short ride
to the International Airport ($29). From there we got on the free shuttle bus
over to the Domestic Airport then waited for Jetstar to open our flight. The
sign said that flight would open up for baggage at 10pm. It didn’t open so we
eventually walked up and it was open – efficiency!! Our bag was just under the
20kg, 19.8kg!! Got through security then found a coffee shop and waited for our
flight at 11.50pm. A long day from our 4.30am start!!
