Thurs, 6th Dec, 2018 10 Mile Outcamp, Tarmoola Station, 60km north of Leonora, WA

6am 26.6 degrees, clear sky. Need to put something over the window to block out the morning sun but allow the breeze to still come in.

Pottered around a bit then rang Mum and Dad. A bit of rain there which has cooled things off for them.

Glen arrived to take us on the bore run. Fairly simple, check the water level and that everything is function. Clean out the trough if needed and note any repairs if we can’t sort them out ourselves. Came around the corner and met a group of cattle. They were on the other side of the fence but wanted to be on our side so they jumped over. Managed to get a photo of one in action.

There are windmills and solar pumps here. We noted one windmill’s shaft was wobbling and cutting into the hose so Steve will come back to fix it later. Another solar one it looks like donkeys have been in and eaten the cable. Another one to be fixed when we get some gear. It was a new site and we only saw donkey poo and hoof prints there. They said we will see heaps up here and camels too.

Takes about 3 hours to check the 10 sites. I had packed lunch and eaten mine but Steve didn’t get his till we got back as he was driving. Very windy now and quite hot, 37.7 degrees in the van.

Glen headed back to the homestead and Steve went back in our truck to fix the windmill. Clouds are building up in the west. I worked on my blog, emails etc. The wind is from the north west and dark clouds are now blocking out the sun which has made if feel cooler.

Steve came back – he has the Spot and Epirb with him in case of emergencies. He got the windmill one fixed. Saw a few donkeys too.

Had our drinks on the verandah watching the cattle nibble on the hay. The wind has swung around to the SW now and is pushing the clouds quickly over.

Nice time of the day to do some more pottering. Steve cleaned up the other side of the shower block so we can move the generator there. Might help block out the drone of the generator.

I went for a wander and investigated an old horse paddock. Lots of leftover iron, wire and ‘things’ left about. The sun was setting behind the dark clouds but I got some lovely colours.

Dinner in the van as the wind is still blowing well and it isn’t as hot as last night.

Watched a movie. The wind changed to ESE and is quite chilly. Had to close the window over the bed and on Steve’s side. Wind whistling through as we went to bed. The sky is now clear again.
