5.30am
25.8 degrees, clear sky and light northerly breeze. Up early as the sun rises
so early and we wanted to get away early for the 3 hour drive to Kalgoorlie.
Called
into the homestead to pick up some things. They didn’t get as much rain here.
Kym said our rain gauge must be wrong as 90ml is a quarter of what they get in
a year. She has ordered me a new one from BOM then I will compare next time we
get rain.
Got
a photo of the ‘tossed’ plane as we drove out.
The
Old Agnew Road is open again but there is plenty of water lying by the road.
The big sign has been bent over.
Lots
of water as we head into Leonora and one of the bent fences. The power company
is still working on restoring power to some houses.
Headed
south. As we past Broad Arrow we noticed a big power pole that has snapped off.
The cables were still attached – hope it isn’t ‘live’.
Into
Kalgoorlie to do our shopping. I got my ‘sunset’ photo I took at Warakuna
printed so I can put it up in the van as it was so nice. Picked up a pack of 10
jigsaws from the Op Shop – that will keep me busy. I have a big table in the
cottage to do them on.
After
lunch we picked up our online orders from Coles and Woolies for ourselves and
Kym. Next time will get them brought out one at a time as the Coles staff pack
for you and it got very confusing. Woolies is good, they just have it all in a
trolley and you pack it yourself.
2.45pm
back on the road heading for home. Big black clouds ahead of us.
Lots
of rain in those black clouds too which we had to drive through for quite a
while. Then the road was dry and the sky was blue again.
Dry
sunny run for the rest of the trip back to the homestead. Dropped off the parts
and Kym’s order. Fuelled up then headed back home.
Stopped
to chat with one of the cows and her little calf as we neared home.
Drinks
on the verandah as the sun set then we unpacked our groceries. Going to leave
the generator run all night to freeze everything well in the cottage.
Hot
wind from the west now.
11pm
it is still 31 degrees in the van but there is a nice breeze blowing now from
the south east.
