6am
windy with a mackerel sky.
7.30am
25 degrees and still windy but more clouds.
Drove
around town for a look and got some fuel from the Council 24hr bowser. All
quiet here, only about 40 residents left but it is very neat.
Back
to the van. Steve washed the truck and van while I chatted on the phone with
Tracy P – they are all heading to Japan with friends for Christmas to snow ski.
Then a chat with Wendy A who was babysitting one of her grandchildren.
Had
lunch then Steve coloured my hair – those greys just keep coming back. Played 3
to Kings for a while – Steve was on a roll then Chris and Mickey arrived home.
Will have to finish that game another day.
Helped
them unload and chatted over a drink. A storm is building up. Met Dave from a
station near Paynes Find who dropped off some samples for a mining company
operating on his pastoral lease.
A
few drops of rain fell so I went out and closed the top hatches of the van.
Shortly after I was running back to the van to close the windows as the storm
arrived with strong wind and hail. Got wet but it was nice as it was so hot.
Got a good drop of rain from that storm in a short time as it quickly moved
east.
Had
a BBQ dinner outside which is now a still as but not uncomfortable as the rain
has cooled it down.
Great
night. Mickey had lots of great You-tube clips of ballads and funny comedians to
watch. One has become Steve’s anthem. It is a song “Show them to Me” by Rodney Carrington
and it is perfect for Steve!!
As
we headed back to the van the stars are out and twinkling in the fresh air.
