Sun, 9th Oct, 2022 Outback Oasis Van Park, Carnarvon, WA (Bathurst Supercars)

Up early (6.15am) and into our Supercar t-shirts and caps ready for the Big Race. It is 17 degrees, cloudy and no wind. Warmer than at Bathurst I bet especially if it is still raining! We are 3 hours behind NSW now they have daylight saving - hence getting up early.

All set for a good day and so far it looks like it will be a drier mountain that yesterday. Took a photo to post on Facebook. Glad we kept one shirt each to wear, even if they are over 10 years old - only brought out for race days!

Lots of messages and texts back and forward with friends about the racing and where we are.

Rang Mickey as she was watching it alone in Leonora and then Louis - maybe we should all go to Bathurst next year when we are back on the east side again.

The track was very wet in places and if you go off you stayed there in the mud! Not at good start with collisions and then a few more bingles then rain before things settled down into a rhythm. A great race in the end with a late safety car bringing the cars closer together again to make it a sprint to the finish. The pole sitter, Waters, ended up 3rd so we got a Ford on the podium with Holden in 1st and 2nd which they all wanted as it is the last time Holden Commodores will be raced as now they aren’t made in Australia any more.

We had the shed to ourselves as a lot of people have left but a few new vans have arrived when we emerged from the shed in the afternoon. The wind is back again.

Quiet night watching a movie.
