Fri, 1st
More rain this morning though Annalise & I managed a short walk along the Esplanade.
More water in the cupboards this morning. Looks like it is seeping in through the seals on the outside storage containers and then travelling along the conduit holding the wires and water pipe! Steve’s got his thinking hat on so he will solve the problem. I said “don’t stay where it is raining!”
Helped Annalise with downloading the wedding photos. No nice album of photos nowadays - just ‘download it off our website’ but her laptop needs updating so it wasn’t working. I got it to work but it was still slow going. They should provide a hard drive with it on for all the money they charge!
After lunch I worked on the cross-stitches. Don’t think they will be done by the time the babies arrive! Steve helped Annalise put the other baby capsule in the BT50 so there is one in each car now.
Malcolm sent a photo from Scamander Hotel - the river has broken the bank to the ocean with all the rain they had the other day.
We went out to Greg’s ‘car yard’ and picked up the I20 - very handy to have a little car to run around in.
No more rain today which was great and the sky is a lovely blue this afternoon over the water while we have our drinks on the patio. There is still heavy clouds over the mountains though.
Sat, 2nd
The sun is out so the washing machine is on. The waterfall is still roaring. Hard to see but all the white is the waterfall. Another small waterfall below me.
I walked along the path to get a couple of photos. The path has been washed away a bit so I stepped carefully.
Great view from their verandah.
Max of 35 degrees today - not complaining as long as it isn’t raining.
Drove out to Gordonvale to visit Daniel and Fran in their new home. It is lovely and there is plenty of room with the corner block. Forgot to take more photos of the inside. Across the road there will be a park built soon which will be very handy for them and their little one.
Fran is coping well considering all the problems she has been having. The swelling in her feet and hands is the biggest problem for her as it has pinched nerves in her wrists making it very painful to do things. Hopefully after the birth things will return to normal. She will be go into hospital on the 8th to be induced so we will have a little girl to cuddle soon.
Back home to Jon’s. Kaylene and Rick came over for pizza dinner. Their little dog, Molly, has been very sick and at the vets but it looks like she will make a full recovery.
Sun, 3rd
Sunny hot day and very humid but I’m not complaining. (min 25, max 35). Helped Annalised sort out some cupboards and baby clothes etc. Continued with my cross-stitching and did another day of blog.
The curlews have laid an egg in the garden bed beside the camper. We will have fun and games now going back and forward past it as Mummy can get a bit upset about wandering visitors! Annalise said a goanna got their last chick.
Mon, 4th
Rain in the early hours this morning. Blue sky and a few clouds now.
Steve went off to do some jobs. Annalise and I went shopping. Bought a gift for Jodie and Bryon’s baby and card - will drop that off when we head south later on.
More cross-stitching - making headway.
Played Skipbo after dinner - Annalise was in fine form and won both games.
Tues, 5th
Helped Annalise with some cleaning - house all ready now for a baby boy to arrive. Just need the daddy, Jon, to come home this afternoon.
The curlew has laid another egg.
Met Wendy and Rebecca at The Bungalow for lunch and had a wonderful time catching up.
Jon got home about 4pm so we joined them for drinks then played some pairs Skipbo after dinner. One game each - boys versus girls.
Wed, 6th
More rain this morning but we headed off any case to cast our votes for the local elections. It isn’t till the 16th but may as well get that job done.
The rain continued - a very wet day and dreary. The boys had a clean up in the shed. I just did my cross-stitching.
Had a lovely chat with Margaret - all good in the west.
Thurs, 7th
Clear sky. Did some shopping and then worked on the cross-stitches. I am determined to get them finished.
A little shower of rain before lunch then more rain in the afternoon.
Popped in on Wendy and David to pick up her mum’s sewing machine. Very handy so I can make the cross-stitches into pillows for the grandchildren.
Another two games of Skipbo after dinner - doing well, 1 game each again, so everyone is happy.
Fri, 8th
Rain all night and again this morning. At least it makes me sit still and get these cross-stitches done.
Jon and Steve put in a narrow shower door in the main bathroom which has an open bath tub, but when you have a shower the water goes everywhere. He also got a new shower rose and hand held nozzle which will be handy for later with the bubby.
Still raining. Damon and Lara came over to visit Jon and Annalise so we headed over to Kaylene and Rick’s for a cuppa. As we headed home we crossed Freshwater Creek and it was flooding over the park area and is just under the bridge. We have had a lot of rain. Everyone is over it as they say it feels like it has been raining for months. I haven’t been keeping up with the rain total but it is inches and inches or lots and lots of millimetres. No major flooding though which is good.
Terry rang to see what’s happening with the shed and to check on the progress of his great grandchildren.
5pm Fran and Daniel went to the hospital. Won’t be long now and we will be grandparents.
Going back to the camper I spotted a huge toad which didn’t like it much when I hit it repeatedly with the shovel. We haven’t seen any about even with all this rain. I remember as a kid they were all over the road when it rained and at night under the street lights waiting for the bugs. Sadly now they have moved on to other towns and other states which is terrible. We do our bit if we see them and dispose of them quickly.
