Wed, 28th Feb, 2024 Bluewater Camping Area, north of Townsville to Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld

More rain, min of 26 degrees. Packed up when the rain eased. Poor chap over from us was in a tent with his dog and it was surrounded in water

Headed northward through more rain. All the creeks and drains are flowing fast and full. They are all getting a good flush out.

Heavy rain and very dark sky as we head through the Ingham area.

Cuppa in the camper as the rain continues at Cardwell.

The heavy rain continues and some lightning and thunder as we continued north, slow and steady.

Through Tully with only a sprinkle of rain - the road has been closed on the 24th with flooding after they got 400mm of rain in a downpour. Can’t see where the road was blocked now.

The sun came out as we went through Feluga.

We think this is a wildlife corridor as there are no roads to cross over here - talk about major construction!

Through another cell of rain after El Arish.

Lunch at Babinda Rest Area - overcast but the sun is trying to shine through.

Nearly home - we can see the Pyramid though the top is covered with cloud today.

Checked with Fran about stopping by the house but she is out and has a full day at the hospital tomorrow with scans so will call in on Friday to see them and check out their new home at Gordonvale, as Daniel will be home from work then too

Waterfalls on the mountain stand out.

Home again. Around to Jon & Annalise’s place but Annalise was still out with her Mum so we backed the truck into our spot near the shed but further across so we didn’t sink in the new soil from when he put in the new fence. We just dropped the camper off and moved the truck out when the heavens opened again. Once that cell had passed we got set up.

Mum & Dad Curlews are guarding the entrance.

Annalise and Lynda arrived home. Joined them for a cuppa and compared Annalise’s baby belly with mine in Jon’s baby album - I was bigger!!

Their waterfall is roaring with all the rain so we will sleep well with that constant sound - much better than road noise.

We finished setting up. Lynda cooked dinner which was delicious and we had chocolate cupcakes for dessert. Jon rang from Innaminka - he will be home on Tuesday.

No more rain today which good. Rang Greg to see if we can borrow a car. Yes but it’s the I20 now as Katie took the Corolla when we moved to Canberra to live.

Rain started again when we went to bed but the fans make it comfortable even with the top windows zipped up.
