2-9 Oct, 2025 Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld

Beau was up again at 4am. Jon kept him out till 6.30 then he came in a woke up Grannie - gorgeous. Beau loves my camera.

Beau went to Daycare - he goes Mon to Thurs and loves the stimulation. Such a busy, smart boy but too full of beans sometimes and tries the boundaries!

Quiet morning with Annalise and Cooper - feeding well. He is more olive skinned than Beau - my side of the family.

The plasterer from down the road came to do the work they had arranged before they had a baby come early. Gave us an excuse to clean afterwards! Beau was being helpful too.

Jon working on his sliding gate so they are secure before he heads back to work in 5 weeks. They need it too as Beau loves to go down to the neighbours places but he doesn’t have the ‘danger’ awareness yet of the road. Beau is a helpful apprentice.

Fun days playing with Beau and cuddling Cooper. Uncle Dan, Aunty Fran and cousin Sophia came over for a visit to meet the new cousin.

Cheers for AFL Grand Final time.

Helping Dad in the shed, mowing the lawn and water play.

Public holiday on Monday so Beau stayed home. Cooper sleeps in funny positions - it’s not me. Beau hopped in the chair and wanted to hold Cooper. He was so gentle and still.

The family of 4. No more grandkids now. I am very happy to have my beautiful 2 boys and gorgeous girl.

Kaylene called in for a cuddle.

Steve rang from Kalgoorlie. On Sunday they had 60ml of rain so the dry lake is now very wet. Luckily they got out in time. Friday it was very strong winds so dust everywhere and so bad that had to stop the ‘racing’. Mal had a few runs and was happy with his time. It was great to see all the different cars and bikes. Steve will be cleaning the dust out of the camper for a while!

I got this off the FB posts. Wet Lake Perkolilli.

Spent the rest of the week cuddling Cooper and playing with Beau.

Wed, 1st Oct, 2025 Perth Airport, Perth, WA to Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld (Steve in Kalgoorlie, WA)

I arrived late into Cairns, 7am. Jon and Beau picked me up. Annalise was already at home with Cooper so I got to have a cuddle as soon as we arrived at the house. He is so cute with lots of black hair, more than Beau and just a bit heavier than Beau. Beau is happy to have a little brother - well for the moment that is.

Beau went to daycare and we all tried to have a rest while Cooper snoozed.

Lots of fun playing with Beau when he returned. He is full of beans and getting used to me now.

Early to bed for everyone. Annalise though will be up regularly feeding Cooper but hopefully she will have a good night.

Tues, 30th Sept, 2025 Bush camp by Lake Perkolilli, east of Kalgoorlie to Perth Airport, Perth, WA (Cooper Jon Geck born)

11 degree min which was when we got up at 5am. Didn’t put the heater on so we didn’t disturb the others but most were up and about any case.

Breakfast and a cuppa with Malcolm then into the truck in to Kalgoorlie. Steve said goodbye at the train. He will have fun in the dust with Malcolm etc then continue detecting. I left a note on the fridge to remind him to pick me up from here when I return on the 31st Oct. I have the same seat he had but no one sitting beside me as yet.

Finished reading my book and watching the scenery change as we headed to Perth. Watched a movie too which was good to pass the time.

No track maintenance this time which held Steve a bit so we arrived at East Perth Station on time. I got the train then to the airport and found a cafe near the Jetstar area and set up my computer after buying a cuppa. Typed up my blog - so many photos to sort from all the old cars etc.

Rang Jon to arrange for him to pick me up in the morning. Might be a complication as Annalise as start getting contractions. A bit early as she is due the 5th but all good.

Rick rang to see how I was going and also to say he split open his finger on a tree on the weekend. He sent a photo - not nice. It has been cleaned and stitched so should heal ok.

At last I could put my bag in and headed through security and upstairs. All the Jetstar flights are leaving similar time so it is packed.

Jon sent a text, “11.59 he is earthside”. Wow I am a granma again. I sent Steve a text to let him know - he can get signal out on the lake if he puts the phone on top of the fridge as his phone doesn’t have the aerial port like mine. Cooper Jon Geck born 30th Sept, weight 8lb 3oz (3.8kg), 50.5cm with lots of black hair. Can’t wait to get home for a cuddle.

At last we boarded at 11.30pm - I paid for the extra leg room so I am by the window in the first row. Got my blow-up pillow out and shut my eyes.
