Fri, 17th Oct, 2014 Green Bank, Yarrawonga

Lovely morning – mist rising off the Murray River at 7am.

Decided to stay for another day as the sky is clear and we are in no rush!!

Next camp along popped over to ask if we wanted some petrol. He is heading to Tasmania and you can’t take it with you on the ship. Thanks – we will use it up before we get there. He also said before we arrived he saw golfers hitting their balls across to our camp site – hence the new balls we found.

Finished ready the Bathurst program and found our names in the back as Volunteers. Wow!!

Went down by the water to collect firewood off the fallen trees, pork chops in the Steve’s cooker tonight. The water actually looks a lot cleaner up close, must just be the soil and depth that makes it look dirty.

Another Nova van arrived so went for a chat – a couple taking it for its maiden holiday from Coffs Harbour.

Wandered down to chat with John about his house boat. Back to camp to get fire ready and cook dinner. A police car did a drive round the camp area. Hope that doesn’t mean its has a reputation!! Jon rang for a chat which was lovely. A few motorbikes could be heard in the distance but so far so good. The golf club in NSW had a band playing and when that finished the chorus of kookaburras, ducks, currawongs sang till night fell. Just the perfect dinner by the river with the cooker giving us heat in front and the pit fireplace warming our backs. Later we saw a few utes do a fast lap through the area but they left.
