The
wind brought thunder and rain. It was a very bleak morning so breakfast in the
van.
Down
to the Accreditation Centre to collect our uniforms – 2 shirts and cap and
lanyard each. We to receive a Supercheap Auto jacket too as it is the 10th
year they have sponsored this event but will have to call back in for that.
Fuelled
up and bought some firewood and some milk etc to get us through till Monday.
The sun has come out and lovely clear blue skies are back but the chilly breeze
has stayed.
Interesting
watching others as they set up their camps!!!
A “Sea
King” army helicopter flew over our heads and around the campground for a bit
then landed on Murray’s Corner – probably drivers getting a joyride.
The
track’s Supercheap Auto shop was open so we went down for a look. All the big
rigs are unloading gear and the Development Series cars’ garage is now at the
back of the pits.
Up
over the overpass – will do this a lot over the next 5 days.
They
have the original Peter Brock 05 car in Supercheap that he won with in 1984.
This
year’s poster.
Had
a couple of people enquire about our truck and the Telstra body on the back.
One guy came back with his camera and took lots of photos and would have bought
it on the spot he was so rapted in it!!
In
the afternoon went for a wander to check out the Big Tow Truck with the little
Aussie Race Car in the back – had all the gadgets.
Mostert’s
mock up car was outside Supercheap so as I had my Ford cap on, posed for a
photo.
Gate
4 – where we will be working.
Found
where Craig Lowndes is setting up his caravan just near us. Didn’t interrupt him
as he was just being a normal guy getting his camp set up.
Wandered
down to check if the jackets etc had arrived – yes, so collected them. Very
nice and comfy. This is our uniform. (The coat is big - not me!!!)
