Mon, 6th Oct, 2014 Bathurst

Sent a text Greg for his birthday. Will ring him tonight. Lovely warm morning at 8am 12 degrees inside and 10 degrees out. Off for another lovely shower. Quiet day working on blog, finances etc and Steve fixing something on the truck. Workers busy installing all the bits and pieces for the race. The big TV screens have arrived on trucks to be erected around the track.
How many blokes does it take to put up a TV!!

Relaxing day enjoying the warmth then the breeze turns into gusty wind. Steve tied down the awning as it’s having a flapping good time.

Went for drive into town to get a couple more things from Bunnings.  Past an old house with a fascinating tower.

Found the Gold Panner Man (one of the Big Icons). It was made in Maryborough.

The Big Rigs start to arrive in town. The three 888 ones.

Past a few more old houses – these terraced ones are nice.

Someone is making a house out of the old water reservoir!!

Gate 4 opposite Harris Park Car Park is where we will be gate keepers each morning – it is the biggest gate!!! Can’t stuff too much up I hope.

A few more have moved in – no one with us yet.

Two big motorhomes – one towing a car and the other the camper. Found them later having difficulties about their campsite!!

Went for a walk around the entire campground checking out all the different camp sites. With all the wind the sky started looking funny. There was a real split in these two clouds.

“Flag Inn” at the corner of  Falcon Freeway and “Ford Place” Leo Geoghegan Ave (his relative bought our family’s Millaa Millaa house).

Louis’ campsite is in Skaife Avenue – he won’t be pleased. Boys left this morning so we should see them tomorrow night.

Whincup’s Ave is up the highest. Great view from the top corner next to Mountain Straight.

All the lanes are now named after drivers, eg Lowndes’ Avenue.

The Bathurst Hilton is all set up.

We have a chequered flag at the entrance to our street – Gran Turismo Drive.

Haven’t got used to the time change yet. The wind is getting wilder so into the van for tea and TV.
