Woke
to dark skies and wind. Lots of people trying to get packed up before the rain
starts.
Decided
to do my washing anycase as last time there was rain it disappeared quickly and
the sun came out. After the first downpour though it came back from another
direction and got us again. It certainly dumped some water on us.
Finally
got the washing done and the sun came out around 11am. Watched the others
slowly pack up in the rain and others who waited slowly emerged and packed up.
Most of the light clothes dried.
Had
a cuppa and saw another dark cloud coming so started taking off the jeans etc
that were left and just damp. Steve said this one looked like hail. Should have
got a photo of the sky – it was mean looking. Just as we lowered the awning to
roll it up the storm hit and Steve was right. I had my back to it and got
pelted with little hail stones. We just had to stand there and hang on to the
awning till we got a quieter bit and was able to roll the awning up then we dived
into the van dripping wet and freezing. Got changed and sat out the storm. Glad
that didn’t happen yesterday in the race!!!
Left
the track at 4pm (there was only a couple of other vans left) and stopped at Woolies for a few groceries then went to a park
near Denison Bridge as there were other vans there so we thought we wouldn’t
get in trouble for overnighting. The temperature has dropped and they said it
would be 3 degrees overnight and a high of 12 tomorrow so time to leave!!! Rang
Dave and Wendy for a long chat.
