Lovely
morning, a lot warmer. A group of cyclists rode past!! Steve headed off
searching again. I headed back to Old Tom’s Mine to follow the track to
Shadbolts Picnic Area, following the little arrows.
Lovely
walk but no animals and only a couple of birds singing. They have drains across
the park for erosion protection I suppose – this one was concreted.
Found
another Eucalyptus Microcarpa – Grey Box – they look grey too compared to the
Ironbark beside it.
Shadbolts
is a lovely area, shame they changed it from a campground.
There
is another walk to Flagstaff Hill so I might do that later.
Rochelle
texted saying “I didn’t order enough buns” – well I was getting the blame
anyway as that is what we did if something went wrong we blamed the person that
isn’t there!!! I rang her back and had a great chat.
Got
back to camp and was greeted by a happy Steve – found two little nuggets.
Little (when compared to the Wattle Flat one) but they are gold.
Had
lunch then Claude and another chap Mick, from Bridport, Tas, arrived. Claude
has found another two bits today too. Mick has been in Forsyth, Gorgetown area
and had a lovely collection of nuggets. His wife detects too and gets just as
much if not more. Mick gave us his address in Tas and welcomed us to stay with
him and his wife, Anne, when we come over. He is heading back to Tas this week.
They
all went out detecting again. Unfortunately no more gold. Another lovely night chatting around the fire. Panel beater Steve got the job in Melbourne so he will only have the weekend left to relax.
