8am
14 degrees and the sun is shining though there are still a lot of clouds
around. The clouds are hanging over Mt Wellington so I can’t see if there is
any snow on it.
Texted
Michelle & Annette for their birthday. Also sent a message via Valerie to
say sorry I missed Michelle’s birthday on Wednesday.
Went
around to Coles and bought some things to get our 4c voucher. I noticed the
Pepsi Max price was incorrect and I asked the lady to check it. I was right so
got a free carton. Good start. At the Coles Express they are still having the
spend $20 in store and get 10c extra off fuel so we swapped the gas bottle for
$25 and therefore got 14c off the 150 litres we were putting in, therefore we
got $21 off so that was good.
Headed
down to Standford on the South Arm to check out the diesel heater. The business
is run out of a shed at the man’s property which has a spectacular view to Mt
Wellington. The clouds are lifting and I can’t see any snow yet.
We
ordered the heater and will call back later to pick it up. Headed off further
down the South Arm area – mostly acreages and lots of horses around here.
Around the bottom of the peninsula and up to Opossum Bay. They certainly built
right on the water here.
Across
the bay to Story Bay and then Mt Wellington.
Interesting
houses.
Drove
down to the very end of the peninsula – looking over Storm Bay, then the spit
and then Ralphs Bay.
On
the way back we stopped at the lookout with an info board about the history of
the area.
Looking
across to D’Entrecasteaux Channel with the northern point of Bruny Island on
the left and Piersons Point on the right, where we watched the yachts come in
back in December.
Zoomed
in on the lighthouse at Piersons Point.
Looking
down to the town of South Arm.
Along
the very narrow isthmus with the southern edge of Ralphs Bay on the left.
Back
to the van for a late lunch then back down to pick up the heater when the chap
rang to say he had it ready for us. Stopped off at Bunnings to get a few things
then headed back towards the van. It is only 4.30 but the sun is low and it
looks lovely over the Pitt Water.
Put
the genie and heater on again while I worked on the blog and Steve read the
installation instructions for the heater. Quiet night.
