Rain
overnight so much warmer.16.7 degrees at 7.30am and overcast. Very peaceful up
here though you do hear the planes go over heading for Tullamarine Airport.
Went
out to chat with Janet as she fed the horses before heading into work.
We
have been on the road 10 months now, covered 21,354 kilometres so far.
I
worked on my blog and Steve headed off to One Tree Hill to check out the gold
workings there with his metal detector. Wasn’t long and he was back.
Unfortunately the National Parks rangers found him and said that he can’t
detect here. Steve said he knew not to detect in National Parks but this was
just a reserve. There were no motorbikes, horses etc signs but no ‘No
Detecting’ ones. They advised him to go to Bendigo!! Oh well – he had only
found a couple bits – steel and brass.
After
a cuppa he wandered over Janet’s horse paddocks and down by the dam but only
more bits of steel. After lunch we headed off to check out the Queenstown
Cemetery.
A
big roo checking us out.
Steve’s
not game to detect in the reserve where we were yesterday just in case the
National Parks come by!! He did find 10 cents in the car park though.
Drove
up Black Cameron Road to St Andrews that used to be called Queenstown. This is
the original hotel we were reading about in Janet’s book on the area.
Stopped
at the General Store and picked up a leaflet on Kinglake National Park that is
about 15kms up the road. Back to the van and I checked online about the
campground there and they want $34/night!! We will just to a drive visit
another time as the weather is not so appealing to do the waterfall walks.
Back
to the van to check out where we will head tomorrow and read up my info on the
areas we are heading.
Rang Mum to check how she went getting her bcc cut out of shoulder - all good - she didn't feel a thing.
Got the fire going in the house as Janet arrived home. Enjoyed a nice night chatting and watching House Rules to see who was eliminated. Their next challenge is to renovate a beach home that viewers can win - will enter that competition!!
Light misty rain as we headed back to the van.
