15
degrees this morning at 8am but it feels like 5 outside with the wind still
blowing but not as bad as last night. The awning survived. Sent a text to wish
Grant a happy birthday for yesterday.
Packed
up and headed off towards Sydney. Through Lithgow and all the roadworks at the
base of Hassans Walls.
Lovely
view as we drop steeply down then up to Hartley and then into Mt Victoria.
Meandered
our way through the Blue Mountains’ towns. The red bottlebrushes were in bloom
at Woodford – another town repeated – Qld Woodford is where my grandfather
Brotherton was born.
Down
the range off the Blue Mountains and over the wide Nepean River. Turned off to
head towards Windsor. Saw a park area on the map in Penrith so headed there for
lunch. It was an old quarry and is now lakes for rowing etc. Pulled up in the
carpark and watched the kids paddle around.
Drove
up past Luke Madill’s BMX track – we went there with Jon years ago. The old map
I have out has all the tracks marked on it from the time we came down to do the
XBR Series here with Jon.
Up
to Windsor then turned towards Sydney again to get to Annangrove where my
second cousin, Linda and David live. Linda’s dad is my mum’s cousin. They have
a fabulous spot with a very long block and have built a lovely home with plenty
of room for our van. It’s wonderful to be reconnecting with my relatives again.
Had
a great afternoon chatting and then beautiful lamb shanks for tea. Linda’s
younger son, Nick was home. Their older son, Daniel, is working in Brisbane at
the moment. Nick is at Uni.
