Tues, 13th October, 2015 Berry Park, Bathurst

16 degrees this morning in the van and it is overcast. I worked on my blog as I am over a week behind now. Phyllis rang so we arranged to meet for a cuppa this afternoon. We met Phyllis and Pete at Sofala last year.

Dan sent through a photo of the completed roof on his garage – still walls to be done etc but at least his car is under cover now.

Drove around to the Information Centre to see if they knew where the BMX track was being built – over near the Velodrome apparently. I got some information on Jenolan Caves as we might go there tomorrow with Leanne and Rick. Steve wanted to find a weighbridge to see how our weight is going – not us, that’s just bad – but the truck and van as he is trying to decide whether to change to an off-road hitch.

Drove out College Road and found the mountain bike trails.

Walked up to the top and we were looking down on where the BMX track is being built. Asked a chap to confirm we had the correct place. Looks like the start hill construction.

Marked it on the map and will put it up on Facebook for the others to see.

Drove back and turned off to get onto Vale Road till we got to the Velodrome and you could see all the construction area. The Council certainly is making a big effort.

Went out to the RTA to find out about the weighbridge. They suggested two other places but when we checked them they were too small. The last chap said another place so we drove out there and the lady was happy to let us weigh for $25. We put the truck on (full of fuel with no water) and weighed in at 3.7t. Will come back with the van on on Friday and pay her then.

Got a couple of groceries then back to the van for lunch. Off to Phyllis and Pete’s for a cuppa. Great to catch up with them again. Might see them in WA next year.

Back to van to pick up Leanne and Rick to have drinks at Fred and Diane’s house up near the V8 track. They have a great view of the mountain. Fred’s pool room is lined with posters and other memorabilia. Lovely afternoon chatting that we didn’t realise it was 7pm already so we said our goodbyes and headed back to the van.

Rang Mum and Dad while getting tea ready then chatted with Erica and Terry. Gave Dan a quick call too about his carport etc.

After tea we watched the V8s qualifying and the Top 10 that I had taped. I should have videoed Chaz’s crash off the TV as it was just amazing that he survived – though the cars are built to keep them safe.
