Tues, 31st May, 2016 ‘Belly Plate Camp’, near Goodin Mine, 93km NE of Meekatharra, WA

7.30am 17 degrees, clear sky and light breeze.

Jeff & Lyn drove back to Meeka for the day. Steve headed back to the other mine we found to detect. I cleaned the floor then went for a walk towards Steve. He was further than I thought so I headed back to camp for a cuppa and a read. Worked on my blog and family tree with CD playing. Very relaxing lifestyle!!

A lot warmer today, 27 degrees in van with all the windows and vents open. No wind today.

Steve came back with a couple of tiny, tiny nuglets from near the old shaft and some quartz with gold in it from around the shaft. He crushed it with pliers and got the gold bits out. There is very little bits that he will keep in a container to one day pan off or something.

He broke yesterday’s specimen too and a nice little nuglet came out and the dirty bit on the outside so that was probably 0.2g (forgot to weigh it before adding it to the jar).

He headed back there for the afternoon but didn’t find another thing. When Jeff & Lyn got back I weighed the bits out of the quartz. One was a pretty little thing which we will probably keep and it weighed 0.4g (including the quartz).

The rest came in at 0.9g so he got his 1 gram for the day.

Lovely evening by the fire with a clear sky and just a light breeze.
