Overcast
and windy, 7.30am 13 degrees in the van.
The
boys went for another drive to find some gold.
I
went online to book the airfares for $119 one way Perth to Cairns and they had
disappeared, it was now $199. I hadn’t looked at the sale end date which was
midnight last night – what an idiot. Will wait and see if there is another
sale.
Jeff
heard on the radio that the Onslow on the coast had received 5 inches of rain
so we went online to check out the weather forecast. Rain coming so we decided
to pack up and head back to Leinster as they aren’t getting much gold and we
are expecting the new metal detector to arrive tomorrow at the Post Office.
Back
down through the old homestead area and through Lake Darlot. No water in it
now.
Stopped
at Melrose Station where the Leonora Loop Trail info boards were. Not much left
of the old township area.
Next
stop was The Granites.
Another
stop just before we get back onto the bitumen. All about the change in the
vegetation and the camels.
30
km up the highway then back into Leinster. We pulled off near ‘the hole in the
rock’ and parked up for the night. Took a quick photo then into the van with
the heater on.
