Fri, 8th July, 2016 Leinster Van Park, Leinster to Bush camp, Yakabindie Station, N of Leinster, WA (Dad’s birthday)

7.30am 13 degrees with the sun peeking through the clouds. Rang Dad for his birthday and had a great chat. Told them we had booked the flights and would be home Nov 9th.

Rang Wendy to arrange my visit to the dentist for this back tooth. Rang Erica to let her know the dates we would be in Cairns.

Packed up and headed north to Yakabindie Station. Stopped in at the homestead to see Patricia but no one was home so we headed across the road onto the old Leinster-Wiluna Road to a GPS mark that we got from 2014 detecting magazine article. Found a track in and pulled up beside a dug hole – not sure if it was for a dam. There are lots of pushings around this area but as we drove in there was an active mine sign so not sure whether we should be here.

Parked on an old concrete slab and then went off to try out the new detector.

Unfortunately only a couple bits of aluminium is all I found. Steve found part of a belt buckle and Jeff got one little bit. Hard work on the shoulders and arm. I will have to ease into it.

Rebecca & Clive had rung so I returned their call – great fun chatting with them. The sunset was lovely on the clouds so I sent Steve out with the camera while I was chatting.

No too cold inside so we didn’t need the heater tonight, 15 degrees.
